There are extensive notes in the Gentlemen's Magazine for the year 1789 recording that on 25th June their Majesties with the Princesses set off from Windsor to Lyndhurst Lodge in the New Forest where they spent a few days with the Duke of Gloucester before proceeding to Weymouth. They arrived in that town on Tuesday 30th June. On the 13th August the Court left Weymouth for Plymouth visiting several other places en route. Whilst in Weymouth the royal party sailed in the bay aboard the Southampton.
