| Denmark introduced a new monetary system in 1813 of which this is an example. The 6 skilling piece was a one year type. The edge is a bit unusual with a line cut into it halfway giving it a striped appearance. I would guess this was a device to prevent people from shaving down the coin and melting the shavings together with those from other coins. You would immediately notice if someone had tried to do this. |
