Louis XVI - Dignissimo

Obverse - France - 1791 Reverse - France - 1791
Obverse - LUD . XVI . D G . FR . NA . REX
Rev: DIGNISSIMO. A king is seated right. In his left hand he holds a sceptre, above him an angel comes bearing a crown. His right hand rests upon a shield with three fleur-de-lys.
Exergue: IETTON
Jeton, 28 mm.

A beautiful silver example, so nice I've included hi-res photos for the folks with band-width. A jeton produced at a time in France when the existence of the monarchy was under attack this was obviously made by the folks who believed in the need for a king.
