On the 13th Frimaire, year XIV. (4th December, 1805), in the morning, there was a suspension of arms, a free space of nearly half a league being left between the two armies. The French army held itself in advance, taking up its position on several lines between Damborschütz and Saruschütz, in front of Urschütz. The Emperor of Austria, Francis the Second, came to visit Napoleon at his bivouac; the interview took place at two o'clock in the afternoon, at a short distance from the village of Nasedlowitz, near a mill by the roadside and in the open air. The medal above described states the scene to have passed at Urchitz (Urschütz), and the 31st bulletin of the Grand Army at Saruschitz (Saruschütz). "I receive you in the only palace I have dwelt in for these two months," said Napoleon to Francis the Second, "You turn this dwelling to so good an account (Vous tirez si bon parti de cette habitation)," replied Francis, "that it ought to please you;" and he requested peace. The interview lasted two hours. The two emperors agreed upon an armistice, which was signed on the 15th Frimaire (6th December) at Austerlitz. The Russians were bound to evacuate by daily stages, Moravia and Hungary in the space of fifteen days, and Gallacia within a month.
